Victory for U-Haul Plaintiffs
Millions of U-Haul California Customers Protected
Michael Ram and Karl Olson were co-counsel in a consumer class action lawsuit against U-Haul Co. of California and U-Haul International under California's Consumers Legal Remedies Act, Unfair Competition Law, and False Advertising Law.
The lawsuit charged that U-Haul misled customers with promises of "confirmed reservations," when in reality customers had no assurance that the requested truck or trailer would actually be there at the designated rental location when the customer came to pick it up.
After a three week trial in March and April of 2006, the Plaintiff Class won a Judgment enjoining U-Haul from misleading consumers by the use of "confirmed reservation" until U-Haul is able to guarantee the customer that the requested equipment will be available at a specific time and place. This Judgment protects the millions of California customers who use U-Haul for rental trucks and trailers.
